The Weekender: Have Fun, Give Back, Dress Like a Cow

This roundup of weekend events in and around Smyrna-Vinings has something for everyone.

Chastain Park Summer Movie What: See “Mirror, Mirror,” a new take on Snow White, at Chastain Park Summer Movie series. The movies will be screened at sunset on the hilltop meadow just off Park Drive in historic Chastain Park. Local food trucks will be on had to provide food and beer and wine will be available. The film line up includes: Where: Chastain Park When: 8:30 p.m. Cost: Free Cow Appreciation Day at Chick-Fil-A What: Show your appreciation for cows and get free food from Chick-Fil-A! SuperSmyrna Strikes Again

Volunteers spent a recent Saturday cleaning and landscaping the campus of Belmont Hills Elementary School.

Thirty four volunteers turned out for a morning school ground maintenance project at Belmont Hills Elementary School Saturday, May 5. The wonderful little school of about 600 students is located off of South Cobb Drive near Windy Hill. Attendees included civic leaders from the Smyrna Golden K Kiwanis Club, Smyrna Rotary Club plus about 20 from the school (including the Principal Terry Floyd, teachers and parents and kids). People like Lamar Jones, David Wine and Ty Cobb sliced their way through hedges, shrubs and assorted obstacles with an impressive array of gas powered tools. Others pulled weeds, swept, and took care of anything else they found that needed tending. Ron Nash came early, stayed late and then returned the next day to plant …
