State Senator Hunter Hill (R-Smyrna) will provide updates on the 2013 legislative session Monday night in Smyrna.
Georgia District 6 Senator Hunter Hill (R-Smyrna) will host a town hall meeting tonight in Smyrna in partnership with the Historic Rose Garden Davenport Town Civic Association. The event will be held at 7 p.m. at Mt. Zion First Baptist Church at the corner of Hawthore Avenue and Davenport Street. Hill is expected to provide updates on the 2013 legislative session. Smyrna and District 6 residents are invited to attend the joint listening session and public meeting to help make Georgia a better place to live, work, raise a family, and retire. Residents will have six opportunities to get updates from elected officials.
The first in a series of town hall meetings intended for Cobb residents to hear directly from their district representatives will begin Monday. Cobb County Commission Chairman Tim Lee will host the first one, which begins at 7 p.m. Feb. 11 at the Smyrna Community Center, 200 Village Green Circle. Representative Stacey Evans of House District 42 will hold a town hall meeting Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. in the Council Chambers at the Smyrna City Hall located at 200 Village Green Circle. Evans will provide an update on the 2013 Legislative Session, focusing on issues concerning education. Evans (D-Smyrna) was re-elected to the State House last November and represents parts of Smyrna, Marietta and Vinings. In 2012, she was among the 40 outstanding UGA graduates from over 400 nominations selected by the University of Georgia Alumni Association as members of the Class of 2012 40 Under 40 Class. District 2 Cobb Commissioner Bob Ott will hold a town hall meeting at 7 p.m. today at the new Sterling Estates senior living complex at 4220 Lower Roswell Road, next to the East Cobb Government Center. His district covers the Smyrna-Vinings area and portions of East Cobb. Ott, who typically holds a quarterly town hall meeting, is participating once again in the annual Movember Worldwide initiative this month to help raise money and awareness for the Prostate Cancer Foundation. He has been among the more than a million men around the world growing mustaches during November as part of the campaign. Ott's father died of prostate cancer in 2008.
