Among several local Sunday events, the Foundation of Emory-Adventist Hospital at Smyrna is hosting its annual Holiday Home Tour and the numbered Dali etching is among the auction items to help purchase digital mammography equipment.
The Foundation of Emory-Adventist Hospital at Smyrna will hold its 10th annual Holiday Home Tour, on Sunday, Dec. 4 from noon to 6 p.m. The tour will feature seven homes in the Smyrna-Vinings area, as well as a silent-bid action of close to 200 items. Highlighting the items will be a signed and numbered etching by Salvador Dali. The silent auction, along with a tea room, will be located at Community Bank of the South at 3016 Atlanta Road in Smyrna. The Dali etching, “The Invention of the Light Bulb,” was generously donated by Bob and Peggy Seckler, who have owned it for more than three decades. JalinePol's style and subjects are inspired by the great Impressionists.
Vive la France! French artiste JalinePol returns for her sixth annual show in Atlanta this weekend at Vinings Gallery at 4686 Atlanta Road. Gallery owner Gary Handler raves about her paintings. “This original body of work, created exclusively for our show, has arrived from Paris. They are available for preview on our website, but you really miss see them in person. Plenty of fundraisers being held this weekend in our Smyrna-Vinings Patch.
Fun events for great causes abound this weekend in Smyrna-Vinings Patch. Here’s a round up of events that allow you to have fun and give back to the community. The Smyrna Public Safety Foundation’s first Standing Together Benevolent Motorcycle Ride and Raffle benefitting injured Smyrna police officer Jed Minyard takes place Saturday, Aug. 13. The event kicks off at 10 a.m. with registration at the Smyrna Police Department. The ride revs up at 11 a.m. with a 40-mile motorcycle ride through Cobb and Paulding counties. The ride will be followed by a picnic at Cobb Park. Participation in the ride costs $20 per motorcycle and $10 for each additional passenger excluding the driver. Lunch following the ride costs $5. The City of Smyrna will celebrate its 139th birthday this coming weekend, but the good times won't end there.
Summer’s impending end doesn’t stop the good people of Smyrna and Vinings from amping up the fun with birthday parties, motorcycle rides, cocktails, fundraisers and more. First up is the City of Smyrna’s 139th Birthday Party, Saturday, Aug. 6. The party begins at 6 p.m. and features live music by Banks & Shane and the Brandon Perry Band. Campbell High School football players and cheerleaders will serve a giant birthday cake and cupcakes from McEntyre’s Bakery and the evening will culminate with a fireworks show. City officials reported Monday that it has sold out of tables for the event, so be sure to pack lawn chairs and blankets to enjoy the music and fireworks.
