Cobb's Community Development Planning Division proposes one-way pairs on Paces Ferry and New Paces Ferry roads to help relieve Village gridlock.
Despite opposition from Vinings residents to the idea of creating one-way pairs on Paces Ferry and New Paces Ferry roads at the most recent Vinings Vision Plan in November, that is precisely the proposal offered by Cobb’s Community Development Planning Division's master plan to help alleviate gridlock at the Paces Mill and Paces Ferry roads intersection. “Clearly there are transportation challenges down here,’’ District 2 Commissioner Bob Ott said at this week’s Vinings Business Association meeting. “So staff kind of came forward with a bold recommendation.” Ott stressed that by no means is this the final proposal that would be submitted for approval and that there almost assuredly will be a fourth Vinings Vision Plan meeting, but not …

Patch has deployed a new feature that will help make getting around town less of a hassle and less expensive. Recent power outage results in guard being lowered for a couple of hours and rush hour traffic in the Vinings Village being brought to a halt.
Early last week, a car struck a transmission pole at the intersection of Windy Hill Road and Cobb Parkway that resulted in about 10,000 Georgia Power customers in Smyrna-Vinings temporarily losing power for several hours. The traffic long jam in the vicinity of accident was a nightmare. But several miles away in the heart of the Vinings Village, traffic was also a disaster. The at-grade CSX railroad crossing at Paces Ferry Road operates in a “fail-safe’’ manner when there is a loss of power, and on the night in question, the crossing guard lowered into place by gravity. It stayed that way for approximately two hours (between 6 and 8 p.m.) and created a traffic standstill along the main artery road that cuts through Vinings. Ultimately, …
