Weird Police News: It's Grinch Week

People's holidays are getting spoiled all over Georgia.

Who takes a holiday decoration right from a neighborhood's welcome sign? The Grinch. Who breaks into a church and steals all the stuff you need to make and spread music? The Grinch. Who slithers into a gym locker room and takes off with people's wallets and iPhones while they're exercising? The Grinch. Who busts into a house, ransacks it, and runs out with a shotgun? The Grinch. (And hopefully not worse.) Who leers around a home with bad intentions, but gets noticed by an alert occupant? The Grinch. Who takes stuff without asking -- and then brings it back without being asked? The Grinch. And, who, in the end, releases his inhibitions and runs into the streets to celebrate with the masses? The Grinch. It's a magical time of year.

Weird News: Facebook Request from Jailer

If it wasn't for these people, news would be all work and no play.

One jailer in Oconee County was fired and another resigned earlier this month because they allegedly sent Facebook friend requests to a female inmate under their supervision. Oconee County authorities also claim the two main had improper conversations with the inmate, although no physical contact occurred. A search of the inmate's computer, which she did not have access to, revealed the friend requests sent by her two jailers. Maybe Mark Zuckerberg should create Jailbook?  Moviegoers are still on edge as a result of the recent shooting spree in a Colorado theater. This may explain why a 58-year-old man brought his handgun to the movie theater in Sparks, NV. This does not explain why the gun fell out of his pocket, hit the floor, caused it …

Weird News: Missing Leg, Toilet Arson

Here is a recap of some of the oddest news stories from Georgia and the rest of the nation.

A jogger in Watkinsville, GA came across an unsettling discovery on July 23; a prosthetic leg belonging to a small child. Watkinsville Police Chief Lee O'Dillon told The Athens Banner-Herald that he believed the leg was lost from a moving vehicle, as it showed skid marks, a possible result of sliding across the roadway. Additionally, O'Dillon told Oconee Patch that speculation on why the leg was discarded is running rampant. Fortunately, the leg was claimed on Aug. 2 by the mother of a 6-year-old boy, who it is assumed threw the leg from a moving car. Kentuckian James Crittenden is no stranger to law enforcement. On July 25, he was arrested for allegedly huffing Reddi-wip inside a convenience store. Crittenden claimed that the US …

Need relief from breaking news? Enjoy some silly news from Cobb County and the rest of Georgia.

A Summerville (Chattooga County) man is taking on the role of distressed prison warden after vandals allegedly cut down some fences enclosing his turtle farm. According to the Associated Press, some 1,600 of David Driver's 2,200 turtles have managed to slowly escape the farm and "bolt" to other watering holes such as creeks and ponds. Sheriff's deputies are searching for the escapees. If you will be driving through the Summerville area, please remember that hitchhiking turtles may be escaped turtle convicts. In Other News... The recent heat wave that had the Southeast in its grip caused some people to do some very weird things. Cobb County resident Marvin Dwayne Bolick, 51, was arrested on July 1 after he was spotted with his pants pulled …
