Smyrna-Vinings Dining Spotlight

REV Coffee: Locally Roasted, Handcrafted Coffee Experience in Smyrna

Take a closer look at the Smyrna-Vinings' neighborhood coffee shop, its owner, the lunch options and coffee, and more.

REV Coffee has been serving Smyrna-Vinings residents for almost six years. The current owner, Nick Bimmerle, has been with REV for four years. "We originally started by serving coffee from roasters based around the country but moved into roasting our own coffee two years ago," Bimmerle said. "In the future we'd love to open another shop, but for now we have plans to expand our lunch service at the Smyrna location." Patch: How would you describe your business? What is the atmosphere/style like? Bimmerle: REV is above all else a neighborhood coffee shop. We foster an atmosphere that is comfortable and relaxed, and suitable for meeting with clients or friends. Patch: Do you have a signature dish? Bimmerle: Our chicken salad sandwich and bacon…

It's Saturday Smyrna-Vinings Style

The weekend's here and there's plenty to do.

It’s looking to be a very mild Saturday with some sun and a forecast high near 60 degrees. What’s on your Saturday planner? Several volunteer groups were dispersed throughout the Jonquil City this morning to help clean up neighborhoods coinciding with Keep Smyrna Beautiful’s Adopt-A-Mile program. Along Atlanta Road near Campbell Middle School, members of Boy Scout Troop 88 were busy by 9 a.m. picking up litter. Among those participating included Scoutmaster Jim Simpson, Andre Lovas, James Lovas, Doug Smith, Zach Smith and Michael Ehme. Smyrna Heights neighbors were seen cleaning up along Concord Road between South Cobb Drive and Atlanta Rd., while members of the Smyrna Rotary Club were gathering up trash along Windy Hill Road between …

Ready to pay more for Starbucks coffee?

Prices set to rise at four Smyrna-Vinings locations...but will you remain dedicated to the Seattle java giant?

Hey loyal Starbucks customer, ready to fork out more for that “tall” latte? Well, ready or not, be prepared to do so as the Seattle coffee chain announced this week that select areas of the county, including metro Atlanta, will see menu prices increase by about one percent overall. The world's biggest coffee chain indicated that its pricing decisions are based on many factors, not just the price of java. Smyrna-Vinings has several Starbucks, including locations at Cumberland Mall, on Cobb Parkway, on Cumberland Parkway and in the West Village. So what’s your take on this? Will Starbucks continue to keep you as a loyal customer? Or maybe you’ll switch and give local favs Rev Coffee and Land of a Thousand Hills Coffee Company a try? Or maybe…

With an [shamelessly, needlessly & destructively] inflated money supply, coupled w/rising energy costs, rising prices are just a simple fact of life that we will all have to get used to. Businesses can try to stave off price increases by eating profits, but that can only last for so long. Eventually increased costs will be passed on to the consumer, and this will happen across the board, not just…   more ›

Java Joint Rev Shows Heart

Smyrna's cool coffeehouse is helping host a pair of benefits this weekend.

Our favorite local java joint is at it again this weekend with back-to-back festivities for do-gooders. Opening its doors to the community, Rev Coffee is graciously hosting these two benefits. First on Friday, Songs For a Cause is the brainchild of Natalie Saxon, an interior designer with a big heart. Her goal is to design and repurpose a battered women’s shelter in south Atlanta. Donating her time and talents to “The Repurposing Haven Project,” Saxon is in need of additional funding to complete renovation of the 17 bedrooms and five bathrooms of the two houses in the shelter. The evening will feature live music by Saxon and friends, plus a silent auction to benefit Women of Gilgal, a Christian organization helping women to transform their…
