Take a Bite Out of Smyrna

Saturday's Taste of Smyrna promises to be a day full of fun and great food.

Saturday is shaping up to be a beautiful day for Taste of Smyrna: Festival of Delectable, a tasting event that highlights the best offerings from local restaurants.

"It is going to be about 70 degrees and sunny,” Bill Watson, JRM Management Services, said in an email. “Absolutely perfect for a taste event – eat, drink and have a blast!”

About 25 area restaurants are participating in this year’s festival including , , , The Melting Pot, Ted’s Montana Grill, Williamson Bros. BBQ, , , L’ Thai West, Doc’s Food & Spirits and Kenny’s Great Pies. These restaurants will offer samples of their best dishes priced between $.50 and $4. Bottled water and soft drinks will also be available to purchase with proceeds benefitting the Smyrna Education Foundation.

The festival gets underway at 11 a.m. Downtown Smyrna will be closed to traffic with vendors set up throughout the Village Green and Market Village. Though food and drinks take center stage at Taste of Smyrna, there will also be live music and games for the kids.

Scott Thompson will give an acoustic performance from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the main stage near the Smyrna Veterans Memorial. Jon Byrd will perform from 3 to 7 p.m., and The Francisco Vidal Band will headline the festival with a performance at 7 p.m.

Kids can enjoy bounce houses, a rock wall, inflatable slides and human hamster balls.
