Smyrna-Vinings Patch Gets a Makeover

We're ready for our closeup! Here are some details about Smyrna-Vinings Patch's redesign.

No, you're not losing it! Smyrna-Vinings Patch looks different today. We did a quick visual nip-and-tuck to the homepage to make it even more user-friendly. And we've moved a couple pieces of furniture. For those keeping score:

  • We tweaked some words in our navigation bar to save space (e.g., "Traffic & Gas" is now "Commute")
  • We moved the weather icon next to the Patch branding so you can find it more quickly!
  • We moved, well, YOU closer to the top! (Our "shout stream" is now front and center to show all your comments off.)
  • And of course we prettified a few things.

Your editor got an update as well. Sydney Busby has been serving as interim editor for the site since February, but made the official switch to full-time Patcher last week. She even spent a few days at Patch headquarters in New York City learning how to better serve you. Got suggestions for how she can make the site better? Send her an email at sydney.busby@patch.com

While the site might look a little different today, we still offer the same robust coverage of everything happening in your community. That was, is, and will always be our mission. We hope you'll let us know what you think of our tweaks. Tell us what you think in the comments below!

Thumbs up! It does have a fresher, cleaner look.

Congrats Sydney. Just one request, please don't start putting Smyrna Mug shots up like some of the other Patches do.
Mimi March 30, 2012 at 01:59 pm
Hooray, thank you for taking on this role Sydney. We need you and appreciate you helping to keep us informed.

Great Job. Agree with Carol. Keep it sophisticalted,

Thanks for the feedback everyone! We'll keep it classy at Smyrna-Vinings Patch.

Hi Carol, Hi Sydney, I haven't ever read another Patch, so I don't know how the mug shots look. Speaking for myself, I would like to see the mug shots. Maybe they could be at the end of the story that they pertain to, or connected with a link I could click on to view the pics. I would like to see pictures of whoever's been arrested in my hometown.

Are these the apartments that were once called "Garrison Plantation"?
Lissa K. June 15, 2013 at 09:32 pm
This is Garrison Plantation - Garrison Lakes - Lakefront Vista. I lived there when it was familyRead More owned. It went from sister to brother then sold. Changed name from Garrison Plantation (because it wasn't PC) (but no one thought about what a garrison was) to Garrison Lakes (there's only one lake) to Lakefront Vista (under new ownership.) It's a dump now. The layout and size of the apts. are great. Even the location is great. Still know some people there. But it went downhill.

I'd rather answer the question "How do you feel about Roswell Street Baptist Church?" MyRead More answer: can't stand it. This incident is just another in its long and bigoted history. During the anti gay lifestyle debacle it gave out copies of the 10 Commandments. That anti gay resolution drafted by Gordon Wysong and enacted by the Cobb Co. Commissioners cost the county an Olympic venue. Whenever I hear about that church I think of the OM who called the church's prominent members The Marietta Mafia!

Its sad, that young people who are gay and often struggle to accept themselves as they are, faceRead More such fury and rejection by a church that preaches love, compassion and forgiveness for most but not all. No wonder many young people, the vast majority of whom are or will be heterosexual find the church increasingly irrelevant in their lives with attitudes like this.
